He soon acknowledged a position with an Indian firm that sent him to its office in South Africa. Alongside his better half, Kasturbai, and their kids, Gandhi stayed in South Africa for about 20 years. In the popular Salt March of April-May 1930, a great many Indians took after Gandhi from Ahmadabad to the Arabian Sea. The walk brought about the capture of almost 60,000 individuals, including Gandhi himself. Gandhi was horrified by the segregation he encountered as an Indian outsider in South Africa. At the point when an European officer in Durban requesting that he remove his turban, he rejected and left the court. On a prepare voyage to Pretoria, he was tossed out of a five star railroad compartment and pummeled by a white stagecoach driver in the wake of declining to surrender his seat for an European traveler. That prepare travel filled in as a defining moment for Gandhi, and he soon started creating and instructing the idea of satyagraha (truth and immovability), or aloof protection, as a method for non-collaboration with experts. In 1906, after the Transvaal government passed a law with respect to the enlistment of its Indian populace, Gandhi drove a crusade of common noncompliance that would keep going for the following eight years. Amid its last stage in 1913, several Indians living in South Africa, including ladies, went to prison, and a huge number of striking Indian diggers wer e detained, flagellated and even shot.   At long last, under strain from the British and Indian governments, the legislature of South Africa acknowledged a trade off consulted by Gandhi and General Jan Christian Smuts, which included essential concessions, for example, the acknowledgment of Indian relational unions and the cancelation of the current survey charge for Indians. In July 1914, Gandhi left South Africa to come back to India. He upheld the British war exertion in World War I yet stayed disparaging of pioneerspecialists for measures he felt were crooked. In 1919, Gandhi propelled a sorted out battle of aloof protection in light of Parliaments entry of the Rowlatt Acts, which gave provincial experts crisis forces to smother subversive exercises. Contributed with all the specialist of the Indian National Congress (INC or Congress Party), Gandhi transformed the autonomy development into a monstrous association, driving blacklists of British producers and foundations speaking to British impact in India, including governing bodies and schools. After sporadic viciousness broke out, Gandhi declared the finish of the protection development, to the alarm of his devotees. English experts captured Gandhi in March 1922 and attempted him for rebellion; he was condemned to six years in jail however was discharged in 1924 subsequent to experiencing an activity for an infected appendix. Then, some of his gathering colleaguesâ€Å" especially Mohammed Ali Jinnah, a main voice for Indias Muslim minorityâ€Å" became disappointed with Gandhis strategies, and what they saw as an absence of solid additions. Captured upon his arrival by a recently forceful pilgrim government, Gandhi started a progression of yearning strikesin challenge of the treatment of Indias supposed untouchables (the poorer classes), whom he renamed Harijans, or offspring of God. On January 30, 12 days after that quick finished, Gandhi was headed to a night supplication meeting in Delhi when he was shot to death by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu fan chafed by Mahatmas endeavors to consult with Jinnah and different Muslims. The following day, around 1 million individuals took after the parade as Gandhis body was brought in state through the lanes of the city and incinerated on the banks of the heavenly Jumna River.Mohandas K. Gandhi was not just the best man of present day Indiadespite energetically ear nest nonconformists, for example, B.R. Ambedkaryet in addition one of the best figures of the twentieth century. Whom would one place close by as a political pioneer of our chance who stood or stands tall on account of good stature? Nelson Mandela and the present Dalai Lama ring a bell. Who else? Charles Andrews, who had once in South Africa been kept by Gandhi from touching his feet since it would disparage him, had cautionedhim that he would think that its hard to influence individuals to stop from this conventional signal of love in his own particular nation. Adoration there is in abundant measure, yet understanding is harder to accomplish.Taking his sign from a letter from Andrews, Rabindranath Tagore, eight years Gandhis senior in age, had in 1918 tended to him as Mahatmaji. After a year, Motilal Nehru, in his presidential deliver to the Indian National Congress, alluded to him by a similar honorific. Almost a hundred years have gone from that point forward and Mahatma has made due as a basic piece of Gandhis name and identity: Mahatma, the Great Man.What was the mystery of Gandhis enormit y? Much has been composed about it however some way or another it stays slippery. Maybe even he himself did not know it. He was an exceptionally complex man, a blend of inconsistencies. The key that he had found in Jainism to the comprehension of the many-sidedness (anekanta) of reality could well be remembered by any individual who looks to comprehend the idea of Gandhis significance. One may then maybe see a part of it. It is significant that honest to goodness Christian searchers recognized this excellence very early. Andrews, I noted at the start, needed to touch Gandhis feet in sincere veneration amid the early South African days. In 1921, John Haynes Holmes called Gandhi in a sermon, undeniably the best man living today, and even viewed him as Jesus came back to the earth. Rabindranath Tagore in a 1933 letter contrasted him with the Buddha for his boundless sympathy for every single living animal.Gandhi as a pioneer of individuals has few companions in our opportunity. In an ageless point of view, he has a place together with Gautama Buddha and Jesus Christ. His sweeping empathy was, without a doubt, a part of Gandhis versatile Truth.

Data and Information Research Proposal †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Data and Information Research Proposal. Answer: Introduction The research report is developed to discuss the various types of data and information that have been collected and analysed based on the proposal of the research. According to the research questions and responses provided, the report will be created for focusing on the needs and preferences of the international students. This will also prioritize on their opinions and responses to the issues or challenges faced while coming to another country to pursue higher education. A particular sample size is chosen, and the survey questionnaires have been provided to them for obtaining relevant answers to the questions in the form of quantitative data and proper qualitative data. It will help in assessing the major issues and challenges that have been experienced while traveling to Australia for studying and the views and opinions of the students regarding the international education and its impact (Altbach 2015). There will also be responses of the students related to the ways by which CDU can assist the students to overcome these challenges with ease and effectiveness. Qualitative analysis The qualitative analysis is done to assess and review the various questions that have been asked to the students who visited Australia to pursue higher education. The questions were asked regarding the major challenges that had been faced by these students who arrived in Australia to study. They also provided their varied opinions and feedbacks regarding the difference between the academic style and difficulty levels within the Australian Universities. The things that they liked and disliked about the international education in the form of academic and personal opinions should be illustrated here as well. The ways by which CDU could help in overcoming these challenges were included here as well (Bernard and Bernard 2012). Based on the data and information collected from the research survey questions and the proposal, the major challenges faced by the students while traveling to Australia had been language barriers, academic and personal choices difference, climatic conditions change along with time zone differences, cultural barriers, and even financial challenges or issues. The purpose of traveling to another country for the students was to pursue higher education facilities and learn better values, beliefs, and culture to gain better job scopes and opportunities, furthermore become successful in their professional career (Brannen 2017). The major questions that were asked to the respondents had been illustrated below: What challenges have you faced since coming to Australia? What are the main differences in the academic style and level of difficulty? What do you like about international education? What do you dislike about international education? Please share personal and academic views. What are the strategies that could help you overcome these challenges? Based on these questions, the answers were provided by the people who had been selected as samples while managing the research proposal. 1st response When asked to the first respondent about the challenges that were faced, the individual stated thatmanagement of time had been a major issue and even issues while doing a particular assignment was quite different from what was done earlier. The person also stated that there was an absence of lecturers and assignments, which hindered the progress in higher studies within the Australian Universities (Bryman and Bell 2015). The responses of the student regarding the international educational facilities provided were quite positive because he believed that the workload, i.e., the study pressure was less and exam schedules were convenient as well. The negativities though were showed regarding the high living expenses and excessive numbers of assignments provided. According to the student, CDU could overcome these kinds of challenges by making online quiz available and increase the frequency of exams, though reducing the quantity of assignments provided to them (Collis and Hussey 2013). 2nd response The same questions were asked to another student who told that the education system of Australia, being different from that of the home country had created certain issues, and English was present as the 3rd language. The cultural differences and staying away from home also made the student depressed, which was also considered as a major challenge. Based on the responses of the student, the differences between academic style and difficulty level included the ways by which lecturers taught, facilities provided and the complexity of the assignments, which were much easier for them when they studied in their home country (Davies and Hughes 2014). The positives, according to the student were embracing a different culture helped them to now people from different backgrounds and develop a good networking base as well. The disadvantages were the high cost of education and lack of extra curriculum activities. The CDU could overcome these challenges by organizing more extra curriculum activiti es and decrease the cost of education faculties provided to the international students (Doiz, Lasagabaster and Sierra 2012). 3rd response The third student responded differently by pointing out the lost passport as a major challenge while it was the response of students who believed that the academic styles of teaching were quite different than that of the Dutch Universities. Based on the qualitative responses, it could be understood that the student had learned new values through themanagement of good cultural aspects while the disadvantages of the international education, according to the student, was difficult to work as a team due to the existence of people from different cultures. According to the students response, CDU could enable the individuals within the University to speak in English, rather than speaking in their mother tongue (Eriksson and Kovalainen 2015). 4th response Based on the responses provided by the 4th respondent, it could be analysed that the experiences were not satisfactory and this happened because of the numerous challenges that were faced. Few of the potential differences between the complexity level and academic teaching style were pressure due to study load including huge amounts of tasks and practical assignments. Based on the response of the student, the difficulty level was same like it was for the Dutch Universities though quality seemed to be different. One positive thing about the international education was the ability to meet people from various cultural backgrounds and working in coordination, through exchange of knowledge and ideas. The areas that lacked certain strengths were the lack of skills among the faculties and lecturers, which created issues to make the tasks clear to the students (Folsom et al. 2012). To overcome these challenges, a dedicated educational workshop is different countries could be created, and requ irements for managing a course must be clear and precise. 5th response This was something unexpected, though the responses should be gathered as important data to conduct the research efficiently. According to the responses, it could be analysed that the styles of teaching and study were different from that of the Dutch Universities and teachers had played a major role in influencing the students to study. It has enabled to think critically, and thus the difficulty level was mediocre. The responses provided by the students were mainly positive regarding the international education because it had improved their ability to speak English more fluently, ensured better exposure and became socialized with people from different backgrounds (Hair 2015). As there were no such negative aspects related to the international education, so it could be interpreted that CDU had nothing to do regarding the overcoming of challenges faced. 6th response From the research questions and answers collected during the survey, it could be understood that one student faced difficulty to maintain academics and could not manage time properly to get involved in social life and language also proved to be a major barrier. The differences in international standards and standards in Australia further created more difficulties. The positives of international education were traveling new places, making new friends and learn different cultures, new things while the things that had been disliked by the student include the high cost of study facilities, teaching styles were different, and education system could not fulfill the requirements of academics (Hussein 2015). The CDU could overcome these issues by creating an effective fee structure and make considerations for the international students to study and progress in the career with ease. 7th response From the responses, it could be understood thatmanagement of time was difficult and the education system of Australia was different from the education system present in the home country of the student. The student though believed that it would be convenient once they would get into the right flow. The advanced technology and proper diversity of culture were the main things that were liked whereas few negative responses were provided regarding the lack of proper skills among the professors to teach them. The analysis and interpretation of data had helped to understand how CDU could provide training and developmental sessions to them to improve their knowledge, skills and expertise level (Lampard and Pole 2015). 8th response According to the data presented in the form of responses, it is not valid and justified for 75 % as D, though 74.8 % can still be justified to a certain extent. It is a huge difference from that of the other Universities outside and the cultural difference has been a major challenge faced by the international student. One of the major positives that has been brought through international education could be the exploring of new horizons and gaining the ability to adopt new environment, furthermore becoming accustomed with the cultural diversity of Australia. Few of the students also provided negative responses in terms of the unnecessary study or teaching plan and no summer semester for the international students in case they fail in any subject (Luo and Jamieson-Drake 2013). The study plan would be difficult as well as challenging for both students and staff because of the consistent lecture arrangements. Few other challenges faced by the international students were lack of time to complete the assignments, and many of them preferred English and few not because of belonging from a non-English speaking country. There were cultural differences along with the difference in climatic conditions and even not getting an Australian girlfriend was a major issue faced by the international students. The language barriers made it difficult for the students to find relevant jobs and practical assignments along with the plagiarism, where similarity was found though the students did not copy the same for the assignment (Mertens 2014). Regarding the differences in academic style and difficulty level, academic styles were different, classes were smaller, and the difficulty level was much less, which meant that students had found it easy to pass the exams. Though the academic style was different for the students who previously tried the Chinese, German and Dutch educational systems, still they believed that the course units had been quite easy for them in Australia. There are other courses such as piano, guitar, extra curriculum activities and quick time for project execution, which have been quite different for the international students (Morgan 2013). Few things that the students think are beneficial to the international education have been gaining the ability to stay and study without remaining dependent upon their parents, learning new languages, semester-long holidays, ease of working on the units, easy ways of pursuing education, etc. With the benefits, there are few things that are not liked by the students as well including adopting some different culture, difficulty to take part in seminars, lack of ability of lecturers to teach the students, many difficult courses, and differences in language, ineffective study plan and no summer semester, which have created issues while adjusting the study plan (Myers 2013). Based on analysis of data and information, it could be understood that to overcome these challenges, CDU must provide a lesser number of assignments to the students, reduce the fee structure to keep the academic difficulty level low and provide them with placement opportunities so that they could get a good job in the future. Seminars should be arranged for making the students interact with the professors and lecturers and even develop an app for supporting the education system with convenience and ease (Reiche et al. 2016). Quantitative analysis The student aged between 18 to 20 were from India, Timor Leste, Netherlands, Hong Kong and they had been studying there for nearly five months and as such few had not decided about what career path should be chosen while few of them wanted to get a job in their own country. Few of the students believed that they wanted to continue their education in their own country while the responses of others showed that they could even manage their job in Australia where they would be studying for the next few years. Many of the students who have been studying for less than six months have lesser knowledge and information about whether the CDU has provided enough support to the international students or not, so they are not sure. They have also interacted with the students quite less, and thus the quality of education system and its services are also considered as satisfactory for them (Sekaran and Bougie 2016). To improve the services for international students, the living expenses should be re duced largely. Many students who have studied for one year believed that their focus is to get a job in Australia only and this can help them to pursue their education as well as work at the same time. Because they have been working for nearly a year, it is quite evident that they have become more socialized with the other students and due to this, they find the quality of services quite good and noteworthy along with the convenience of staying in Australia just after their arrival (Smith 2015). From the responses, it could be understood that the cultural differences should be overcome by CDU to meet the international students requirements as well as organize the various activities based on their demands and preferences. Many students believed that CDU had provided enough support and help to the international students and for them, the quality of services is far more than just better. One of the Indian student's response was positive because he found that the studying tenure was eno ugh to understand how well the facilities were provided and getting a job at India only would be favorable and convenient as well (Sreejesh, Mohapatra and Anusree 2014). Based on the response of one of the Chinese student, it could be understood that getting a job in Australia would be easier and convenient because he or she had been studying at the same time and wished to get the job through placement and job opportunities. The student though remained neutral while providing an answer regarding the support made available for the international students by the CDU. According to the responses, the services' quality has been satisfactory, and it has been easy for him to connect to a large group of audiences with ease. The students between 24 to 29 have provided responses, which showed that they plan to get a job in Australia only after the graduation would be completed (Venkatesh, Brown and Bala 2013). To improve the quality of services, it is important to reduce the fee structure of the international students, and few interactive sessions shall be arranged for the international students for improving their skills and abilities and make them get jobs th rough the development of skills, knowledge and expertise level. Based on the responses, it could be understood that the students who came from China and had experiences of studying for 1-2 years wished to continue education in Australia only. But, according to their responses, the CDU had not provided enough support to the international students, and thus the quality of services was termed as fair and just good (Wilson 2014). According to the views and opinions, The international students who were above 30 years of age and had been studying for less than six months provided multiple choices or options such as getting a job in own country or a job in Australia or even in other countries. Though the responses related to the support provided by CDU for the international students were negative or neutral, still the international students believed that becoming less independent would be important because much support was not expected. The quality of services was rated as satisfactory whe n compared to the quality of education system and services of the institutions where the international students used to study previously (Zikmund et al. 2013). During the international student survey, it was analysed and interpreted that international students who had more than three years of studying experience had been expecting to get a job in their own country and thus the responses were quite positive regarding the support provided by CDU along with the quality of services delivered to the international students. Though it is not a good thing, still the students feel for the absence of a bar that may have been opened for few nights in a week (Altbach 2015). There were neutral responses as well because few of them did not know how and whether to continue the education after graduation or not. In respect of the views and opinions provided, it is quite clear that Brett Smith has supported the international students and the responses are positive for being able to fit in the country after arriving in Darwin. Few of them are exchange students, because of which, they cannot find any such differences in the quality of services for the full-ti me and long-term students (Brannen 2017). Most the data collected in the form of responses are positive, and it shows that the Australian system of education has been satisfactory and proper help and support has been provided to the international students with ease and efficiency. The majority of choices after the completion of graduation has been either getting a job in own country or Australia, though few of the responses are neutral, which means a decision has yet not been taken (Hair 2015). Conclusion The research report was developed to focus on the research proposal related to the emergence of issues or challenges for the international students while coming to another country, i.e., in Australia. From the proposal, the data was collected in the form of qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were collected by asking certain questions to the international students such as challenges that were faced, differences in academic style and difficulty level, things that were liked and disliked by the students and even the approaches undertaken by CDU to overcome the challenges with ease and effectiveness. The most important challenges faced were the impropermanagement of time, lack of skills of lecturers and professors to make the students understand, different study style, high costs, etc. Based on the analysis, the things that were liked by the international students had been good cultural diversity, less pressure of study, semester-long holiday, gaining better scopes o f learning English and Australian language and gain a secure place to get a good job in their home country or Australia. Most of the international students had socialized with the other students, and CU provided proper support as well. Therefore, these had been the data and information that was collected for analysis and interpretation and finally the report was prepared. References Altbach, P., 2015. Pre AND Post 1900 Comparative Essay Example

Pre AND Post 1900 Comparative Essay In this essay, I have chosen to compare and contrast the following two poems Even Tho by Grace Nichols and To his Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell. These two poems were roughly written three centuries apart, and so the social factors and religious beliefs as well as other things were different. Therefore different ideas would be portrayed in the poems. In the 17th century when To his Cot Mistress was written, women were not known for writing poems about love let alone sex, as womens opinions werent respected. If a woman was sent a poem like the one that Andrew Marvell wrote, then she would probably go weak at the knees and do whatever was asked of her. However, in the late 20th century, when Even Tho was written, womens opinions and rights were respected in society and more and more female poets emerged with some ideas that were once thought unacceptable for women. One other main factor that affected the ideas portrayed in these poems is partly to do with religion and partly to do with what used to be thought of as socially acceptable and what is thought as socially acceptable now. At the time To his Coy Mistress was written, women were expected to keep their virginity until they were married. This is why the poem is set out as an argument, trying to persuade his lover to have sex with him. This is different to the time when Even Tho was written because women were not expected to stay a virgin.I will now discuss the similarities and differences between the content of the first poem, To his Coy Mistress and the second poem Even Tho. The first poem To his Coy Mistress is unusual for the time as it has an untraditional structure. It has no verses but it has three sections each with a different number of lines. The fact that it has no verses suggests that the subject of the poem never really changes, only the perspective of the poet. This is so, that the poet can present an effective argument. In the poem, some of the sentences carry on to the next line this is to in crease the pace and build up a good argument. Another reason for why it is unusual for its time is because of the purpose. At the time that the poem was written, women were expected to keep their virginity until they were married, but the poet is asking his lover to lose her virginity, although they arent married. The three different sections separate the different parts of the argument that he is putting across. In the first section, we see the poet describing what he would do if he could spend eternity with his lover, A hundred years should go to praise thine eyes, and on thy forehead gaze. In the second section, he is saying that although it would be nice to do the things which he said in paragraph one, he cant because he wont live forever and she will eventually die with her quaint honour. A quote to show this would be, Nor, in thy marble vault, shall sound my echoing song: then worms shall try that long preserved virginity. The final section concludes the argument by saying what they should do in order that his mistress does not die having never expressed her love towards her lover.I think, that from the perspective of the poets mistress, the poem is quite successful. This is because the poet uses some very effective methods to persuade his lover. In the first section, he sweet-talks his lover before scaring her into bed with thoughts of death in the second section. This is why the structure is very good as in my opinion, it allows the poet to separate the poem into three separate parts, creating an effective argument. The second poem, Even Tho by Grace Nichols is in many ways very different. Her ideas would have been seen as very controversial if they were expressed at the same time as To his Coy Mistress was written. We can see this from the purpose of the poem, the intention being to inform her lover that she wants sex without the commitment. This is unlike the woman in To his Coty Mistress as she has to be heavily persuaded to do such a thing. At the ti me Even Tho was written, women were far more in control of their own lives and didnt succumb to obsequiousness as easily.A way that these two poems are similar is that they both have an untraditional structure. Even Tho, is very much a free verse poem, in that it doesnt have a set number of lines per verse or a set number of words per line. It also has very little punctuation. This enables it to highlight the untraditional ideas it contains. This is similar to the reasoning behind an unconventional structure in To his Coy Mistress. Both of these poems are written in the first person, this means that both of the poets can reinforce their emotions by making the poem more personal. Again, Even Tho and To his Coy Mistress are partly similar in purpose; they both express emotion and give the poets view on their relationship. The manner in which the poets express their emotions are quite different. In Even Tho, the poet uses a positive and light-hearted tone to put across her feelings, whe reas in To his Coy Mistress, Grace Nichols uses more traditional ideas of love as well as his unorthodox views on his relationship with his lover. In my opinion, both poems may well be seen as relatively offensive because they are very biased as they only take into account their own opinions. What about the other person in the relationship? They may desire something different! To his Coy Mistress is especially offensive because the poets requirements are just sexual pleasure. As is to be expected, the language of these two poems is very different in many ways. The vocabulary in To his Coy Mistress is very dated as the poem was written in the mid 17th century. Unfamiliar words like thou and thine are used, which could be difficult to comprehend for the majority of people in this day and age. There is a lot of imagery used in this poem to create a picture in our minds of the poets lover and the relationship that they share. The poet uses metaphors such as Times winged chariot and Iron ga tes of life. He also uses similes, for example, the youthful hue, sits on thy skin like morning dew. In addition to this simile, this sentence shows us another technique, which is called personification. All of these techniques, plus some very elaborate descriptions build up some very apparent images. The poem rhymes all the way through in couplets and this is one of the only regularities in this poem. This means that when you read the poem, as well as picking up the untraditional ideas, you also sense the regularity, which makes the poem easier to identify with. It also has the same alliteration in it, for example: long love and love at lower rate. These are both to be found in the first section, along with some assonance that gives similar sounds, for example: shouldst rubies find. These are all soft, sumptuous and loving sounds which comply with the messages in the first section. As you would think, the second section contains more hard sounds, for example: turn to dust and the th ird section contains dramatic and indicative ideas and so uses sounds to back these up, for example: instant fires and rough strife. The poem appeals to a couple of the senses, mainly sight because of all the imagery used and sound because of the descriptions used associated to sound. The beat of the poem is also regular, as it has approximately 8 10 syllables per line; this suggests that it flows when read. The vocabulary of Even Tho is very different to that of To his Coy Mistress, mainly because it was written much later, round about the 1970s or 1980s. This meant that the language was much more up to date. The time that it was written also means that it was possible for the poem to be written with a Caribbean dialect. An example of this is, Keep to de motion, and leh we go.It was very unusual to see a poem written in a Caribbean dialect from the period in which To his Coy Mistress was composed, so this highlights a difference between the two poems. The dialect allows the poet to bring in some of her ethnicity and culture to her work.A connection between the two poems is that they both use ample amounts of imagery. In Even Tho metaphors are used, for example: Im all watermelon and star apple and plum when you touch me. This metaphor shows us what the poet is feeling. Grace Nichols uses juicy, soft fruits to describe it because thats how she feels. The poem is very short, and due to this, we dont find any similes or personification, but the poem does have some very interesting descriptions to create images, such as, you be banana, I be avocado, which describes the male and female sex organs the banana symbolizes the penis as it is very hard and long, whereas the avocado denotes a vagina as it is very warm, soft and in particularly red! This type of imagery is somewhat different to that used in To his Coy Mistress as it is more intimate, light-hearted and humorous, unlike the romantic and sometimes frightening imagery of To his Coy Mistress. The sounds to the poem are one of the keys to its success. Assonance such as watermelon, strar apple and plum gives juicy and sumptuous sounds that appeal very much to the readers sense of taste and touch. The imagery used when talking about the male and female sex organs, banana and avocado is quite amusing, and so appeals to the readers sense of sight.Besides the poem being outwardly funny, it has a relatively fundamental underlying message about the poets relationship, which is shown in the poets choice of repetition. The reiteration of Even Tho and leh we break free, is what tells the poets lover exactly what she wants from their relationship. She wants to be an individual even tho she enjoys having fun and spending time with her lover. In my opinion, the poem is similar to To his Coy Mistress when it comes to pace and rhythm as they are both irregular and so stressing their equally unorthodox messages. In conclusion, I would say that these poems arent completely unrelated, and the main thing that influences their differences is the time in which they were written. They both have similar purposes, only the perspective changes. It is largely male in To his Coy Mistress, but incredibly female in Even Tho. Another way that time has made the poems more different is the way that they are presented. To his Coy Mistress is presented as an argument that is trying to persuade the poets lover to give in to her passion for the poet and lose her virginity. However, Even Tho is more of a story than an argument. This is because she doesnt feel that she needs to persuade men to do what she wants them to do, only tell them how she feels. Andrew Marvell felt that he needed to persuade his lover, as simply making a suggestion would not be enough. These are just a few examples of the ways that they are different, and of course, there are many more, but we must remember the simple similarities. Both poems are about sexual relationships, they are both written in the first person and to conclude, they both express emotions! My particular favourite out of the two poems has to be Even Tho. The reason being, it is so simple, but yet has so many layers of meaning and tone. It is also comical as the imagery is fairly explicit as it talks about bananas and avocados representing the sexual organs on a humans body. The poem Even Tho also has a far more informal style of writing than To his Coy Mistress and communicates to more than just the poets lover. All of this is why Even Tho is my favourite poem out of the two.

Gary Barnett the Motivator essays

Gary Barnett the Motivator essays Gary Barnett changed Northwestern football when he arrived there in 1991. He put a mindset into the players and the school that they can overcome this and turn this program around. Gary brought enthusiasm to the team and made believers out of his players. He had calmness in the rough times giving the kids a reason not to panic if they just lost one game. In the 1995 season, Northwestern opened up the season beating Notre Dame at Notre Dame. Then the following they lost to a bad Miami (OH) team at home. That week Gary was distraught, but stayed calm and asked his team if they wanted to be the team that beat Notre Dame or the team that lost to Miami (OH). The reason he was such a good leader was because the kids believed in what Gary said. The team thought if they could trust him and have faith, they could do anything. Gary Barnett had many motivational techniques to get his players motivated. He thought you had to believe in yourself, to become successful. Gary made t-shirts that said Me to We. That was a way to tell his players that the only way they could win is if they believe in one another. One of his players wrote a paper on his motivational techniques. Northwestern has the lowest enrollment out of the whole Big Ten. They have an enrollment of only 7,500 kids. Where the University of Ohio State has about 31,000 kids. Gary didnt understand why kids didnt want to come, so it was his doing to change that. He did change that by telling his recruits that if you come to Northwestern that not only will you play football, but you will get a degree at a very good school. The kids realized that football doesnt last forever, but degree from Northwestern will be with you until the day you die. Darnell Autry and Tuscon Waterman decided to go to Northwestern for the education and not just to play football. They knew that with a degree from Northwestern they could get a job anywher ...

Price Floors and Ceilings in the Dairy Industry Research Paper

Price Floors and Ceilings in the Dairy Industry - Research Paper Example Whereas it may be convenient to assume that perfect competition exists within many markets around the world, the fact of the matter is that governments often provide subsidies and encourage price floors and/or ceilings as a manner of ensuring the domestic production capability of a given industry or enterprise. Oftentimes, this is done as a means of ensuring that the domestic production capability will remain constant; regardless of the shifts and changes in supply and demand that are evidenced as a function of a true capital market. For purposes of this brief analysis, the author will focus upon the dairy industry in the existence up price floors and ceilings that are represented throughout. Through such an examination, it is the hope of this author that the reader will come to a more full and complete understanding of the means by which these price floors and ceilings work to keep something of a static market and prices resiliently unchanged; seemingly regardless of how the market might move at any given time. The obvious rationale for these price floors and ceilings is with respect to the fact that individuals within society, oftentimes the most vulnerable, will not be in danger of being unable to afford many of the common nutritional components of a healthy lifestyle. Conversely, these price floors and ceilings exist as a way of ensuring that producers will not choose to leave the market and a relatively static level of production capability will be exhibited; due to the fact that producers are assured the fact that they will not make below a given level of profit upon each gallon of milk produced. Firstly, with regards to the social welfare theory that is aptly represented within this particular case, the price ceiling that exists denotes the fact that the individual consumer within the economy will not be expected to pay more than a given amount for a gallon of milk. This has a powerful impact upon the way in which the domestic economy operates due to the fact that a litany of different products derive their ultimate price based upon the dairy market. Whereas milk itself is the primary complement, cheese, butter, protein, way, and a litany of other substances and food products are all derived from the primary milk that exists within the dairy market itself. As such, by creating a price ceiling, secondary and tertiary producers are also given a level of assurance that the cost of production for their individual commodities will not fluctuate greatly from one period of time to the next (Dairy Industry, 2004). This ultimately serves as a type of insurance through which different food producers can rely upon the fact that even though demand for products might change, the supply and price of the compound and goods which are required to produce a given food substance are likely to remain close to if not exactly the same price as they are within the current market. Comparatively, the existence of a price ceiling within the dairy industry d enotes a level of social welfare with regards to the consumer; however, a level of subsidization and ultimate benefit also exists within this same market when one considers the price floors that exist. The price floors that exists within the dairy market are ultimately a means of assuring the producer that regardless of what shifts market takes, the producer will still be guaranteed a minimum price for each gallon of milk that they produce. This assurance allows the producers to differentiate their industry and develop in a way that they might otherwise not; if they were more concerned with the continual shifts and

Good Practices in independent consultancy Essay

Good Practices in independent consultancy - Essay Example A good working knowledge of the industry is also critical for the consultant, as well as a proven track record of past successes with previous clients. For this, the consultant must be updated on current trends and forecasts in the industry. Although this report focuses on my own field of expertise, you will see that the practices and ethics apply to all forms of consultancy and are based upon good human relations, the wherewithal to analyze accurately, expediency and prompt delivery of results. It is also imperative respond to reasonable client contacts promptly. I was contacted by the owner of CafAntonio, a popular small restaurant in Tor Quay, Devon. Over the phone, he told me that he was very concerned about the amount of increase in his expenditures due to high fuel prices and an increase in dairy prices. He didn't see how he could avoid raising prices and wished to explore other options. In the initial contact we discussed my skills, background and fees. Upon his verbal agreement to my fee (Caldwell, Mark), I made an appointment to visit the establishment the following afternoon at 14.30. The site was visited on 13 June 2005 at 14.30. The owner was interviewed about his bookkeeping practices as well as his menu content, staff, and equipment. He provided his records for the previous year as well as the current year. The site was then toured to observe the work of staff, food preparation and disposal, and current inventory of food, beverages, place settings, serviettes and non-perishables. The owner was questioned regarding utilization of extra portions and unused perishable ingredients, as well as an estimation of average daily sales. The owner was asked for and provided inventory records for a
